Taking Measurements
Here is a simple guide to help you take measurements for your wedding dress.
We've compiled these tips from seamstresses and our shop gals!
Measuring Tips
-
Measuring for the right fit is a critical step when choosing your gown size. Below is a diagram that will show you just where to take these measurements. Be sure to wear undergarments when you take your measurements.
-
Measure your waist. Find your natural waistline by bending to one side. While standing straight, measure around your waistline.
-
Measure your bust. Measure around the fullest part of your bust. If this measurement is between numbers, then it should be rounded, either up or down, to the nearest whole number.
-
Measure your hips. Your hips are located ~8" below your waist.
-
Measure the hollow to hem, see diagram below. (Almost all gowns have a H-H of 58" or 59". This measurment is only critical if you are petite or very statuesque).
-
Have a seamstress check your measurements to make sure they are correct. This is your wedding dress we're talking about here!
